An Arizona pilot has donated a hand-made traditional willow bark skirt to the Cocopah Museum.
“The skirt is a wonderful addition to our collection,” said Cocopah Museum Director Kathleen Bartosh.
The skirt, which was made by Inocencia Gonzales, a Cucapá woman from Rio del Mayor in Mexico, was transferred to the Cocopah Museum through the Arizona State Museum.
“This same type of traditional bark skirt is in the Smithsonian Institute’s collection,” said Bartosh, adding: “While it is not currently on display in our museum, we hope it will be featured in a future exhibition.”
