The Cocopah Indian Tribe has crowned Jocentah Marie Miller as Miss Cocopah 2024-2026.

The Cocopah Indian Tribe has crowned Jocentah Marie Miller as Miss Cocopah 2024-2026.

“I hope to inspire young girls to build their confidence and aspire to become royalty,” Miller said.

Miller, 23, is a Kofa High School alumni who graduated in 2019. She plans to attend Arizona Western College to earn a certification as an ultrasound technician.

The tribe held a coronation ceremony in November. Viewers can watch the ceremony on the Cocopah Indian Tribe Facebook page and on Cocopah Now, the tribe’s YouTube channel.

Miller said she was inspired to earn the crown because it is an opportunity for self-improvement while representing the tribe.

Her first appearance as Miss Cocopah was in late November at the Colorado River Indian Tribes in Parker.

“I felt more confident, welcomed and the experience was positive,” she said.

In her role as Miss Cocopah, Miller will travel to various Native American events throughout the state and the region to include supporting other tribal royalty, pageants, and gatherings. She will also represent Cocopah at local events in Yuma County to include the Annual Rodeo Parade, the Somerton Corn Fest, San Luis Founders Day, Somerton Greater Days, the Annual Cocopah Earth Day Festival, and the Veterans Appreciation River Walk, to name a few.

The cause that she will promote during her two-year reign is to educate young people about the dangers of alcohol and drugs.

Miller is the 12th tribal member to serve as Miss Cocopah since the program was established in 1985.
