Cocopah tribal members Yohan Stokes and Chole Garcia were among more than 180 student athletes honored at the 2016-17 Yuma Sun/Yuma Rotary Club All Region Banquet.
Yohan is a football player at Yuma Catholic High School and Chloe is a softball player at Kofa High School.
As reported in the event program, “Yohan a member of a secondary that surrendered just five scores through the air all season, ranked fifth on YC in tackles with 62. He also had four passes defended and one fumble recovery.”
“Chole led or co-led Kofa in nearly every offensive statistical category, including batting average, on-base percentage, RBIs, runs scored and home runs. The versatile infielder was also a standout defensively, as she was named 6A Southern-Yuma Defensive Player of the Year.”
